SUMMARY:Providing Tools for the Field: Policy to Practice Guide by Career Ladders Project
DESCRIPTION:CLP will be presenting at the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) Conference. Session description: The CLP Dual Enrollment Policy to Practice Guide supports the sharing and implementation of promising practices for smoothing the transition to college for historically underrepresented students. In this session\, CLP will share what has gone into creating\, funding and updating the guide over the past eight years. Session attendees will get a behind the scenes look at new additions to the guide; including a data tool for identifying equity gaps\, resources for equitable dual enrollment counseling\, a guide for designing and implementing dual enrollment career pathways\, and a protocol for student focus groups. Resources from the Dual Enrollment Policy to Practice Guide can be utilized by and/or set serve as an example for practitioners\, administrators\, and organizations across the nation. \nPresenters: Kylie Campbell and Dr. Naomi Castro\, CLP

SUMMARY:Widening the Math Path to STEM Degrees
DESCRIPTION:CLP is co-sponsoring a session at the sixth annual Just Equations virtual conference\, The Mathematics of Opportunity: Closing the Divide. \nInterdisciplinary collaboration is leading to the redesign of college math courses. Increasingly\, modernized quantitative reasoning options are available to students pursuing non–math-intensive majors as well as those seeking degrees in STEM fields. In fields such as biology and engineering\, evidence has tied such interdisciplinary approaches to improved success. However\, due to complex transfer and articulation policies\, community college students are less likely to have access to such innovations than their counterparts who begin college at four-year universities. In this session\, practitioners engaged in college math redesign discuss the barriers and opportunities for broadening math course options for students at two- and four-year institutions.
