SUMMARY:Agents of Change: Equitable Dual Enrollment via Collaboration and Commitment (CCEMC Summit)
DESCRIPTION:Dual enrollment often illuminates systemic barriers between K12 and postsecondary institutions that stratify access for historically underrepresented students. While we seek to transform our institutions\, we are reminded of the importance of collaboration and commitment required to support student success. In this session\, learn first-hand from change agents from Mt. Miguel High School and Cuyamaca College on how they work together to mitigate barriers and support more equitable dual enrollment opportunities for minoritized students.

SUMMARY:Streamlining the Enrollment Process: the Virtual Dual Enrollment Hub (CCEMC Summit)
DESCRIPTION:This session will explore how the Virtual Dual Enrollment Hub offers sustainable and scalable access by streamlining enrollment and promoting purposeful dual enrollment. Designed to close equity gaps for the region’s racially and socioeconomically diverse student population\, the Fresno-Madera K-16 Collaborative brings together high school\, community college\, university and industry partnerships. The K16 Collaborative is piloting a web-based platform for students to apply\, obtain approvals and automatically enroll students into college classes.

SUMMARY:Multiplier Effect: Dual Enrollment x Math
DESCRIPTION:Session: Multiplier Effect: Dual Enrollment x Math\nConference: The Mathematics of Opportunity: Charting a Path to Equity \nTaking college courses in high school\, known as dual enrollment\, has been shown to increase high school and college completion. Because students participating in dual enrollment tend to graduate earlier and at lower cost\, such programs are on the rise in California and other states. Some studies show these strategies can be particularly effective for students who historically have been tracked into remedial math courses. How do we design for equity in math dual enrollment? How do we ensure we are not tracking students\, given limited offerings? Join K12\, community college and research practitioners in exploring the complex issues surrounding dual enrollment in math and sharing promising practices and aspirations as college and high school partnerships expand their math offerings. \nThis session is co-sponsored by the Career Ladders Project and Linked Learning Alliance. \nRegister for the conference.

SUMMARY:Black Student Success in Dual Enrollment: A Case Study
DESCRIPTION:The research is clear that Black and Latinx students benefit greatly from taking college classes while in high school (dual enrollment). Yet despite an increase statewide in overall dual enrollment participation\, Black and Latinx students have the lowest participation rate. Colleagues from Mt. Miguel High School and Cuyamaca College will share how their partnership has fostered Black student success through design and student supports. \nPresenters:\nDr. Naomi Castro\, Senior Director\, Career Ladders Project\nLaurencia Walker\, CLP consultant and Director of Student Readiness\, Hartnell College\nMark Jeffers\, Early College Coordinator\, Mount Miguel High School\nAriane Ahmadian\, Admission and Records Specialist\, Cuyamaca College \nRegister for the conference.
