Working in collaboration with the Los Angeles Regional Consortium, CLP’s March 7 webinar focused on opportunities to align current and future funding opportunities for greater impact in the L.A. region. Access the webinar recording and slides.

Topics featured in the webinar:

Dual enrollment grant opportunities from the California Department of Education (CDE). Dr. Naomi Castro and Laurencia Walker from CLP gave an overview of the CCAP and middle/early college dual enrollment RFAs including eligibility rules, priority points, and allowable expenses. They also highlighted the ways that developing a strong dual enrollment grant application could build a foundation for the forthcoming Golden State Pathways program. Key points of intersection include: early college credit requirement, partnerships, pathways in priority sectors, integration of college and career, integration of work-based learning, and quality standards for pathway design. Special guest speaker, Diane Crum, CDE Education Programs Consultant, provided updates on questions submitted since the RFAs were announced in mid-February. Remember: Applications are due at 4 p.m. on March 30.

Cross-walking state investments for regional impact. Adam Gottlieb of UNITE-LA presented a digital tool that outlines 17 related funding streams spanning early childhood to postsecondary education. The tool allows you to filter by grade level, sector, and activity. For example, selecting “early college/prep/dual enrollment” identifies five funding sources including the dual enrollment grants described above, K-12 Strong Workforce, Golden State Pathways, the Regional K-16 Education Collaboratives, and the A-G Completion Improvement Grant Program. He also provided a short history and overview of the L.A. Region K-16 Collaborative. The collaborative is working to build out subregional partnerships—visit their website to learn more or get involved.

Catalyzing coherence and Golden State Pathways. Emily Passias of the Linked Learning Alliance gave an overview of the forthcoming Golden State Pathways (GSP) funding opportunity, which has the goal of expanding high-quality college and career pathways for students across California. Although specific RFA details aren’t available yet, there are many points of intersection between GSP, the dual enrollment grant program, and other funding streams. Emily also underscored GSP’s equity focus on serving students furthest from opportunity, which is echoed in other programs including the dual enrollment grants and the California Community Schools Partnership Program.
