Mikle brings a comprehensive, systems-level perspective on college and career readiness to his work at CLP. In his most recent position at Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) as the Assistant Director Workforce Readiness, Mikle provided support to the district’s 12 high schools and their 39 pathways in the areas of work-based learning, grant management, and Project Lead The Way curriculum implementation. Under his leadership, LBUSD expanded work-based learning opportunities, streamlined operations, strengthened district-industry partnerships, and opened many doors for students to explore the vast world of careers.
Beyond his roles in school districts, Mikle has served as the co-chair of the Los Angeles Regional Coalition for Linked Learning Partners Action Network, which helped build cross-sector partnerships to develop a qualified future workforce in the region. He also served as an operational board member of the aLL-in regional coalition and on the Linked Learning Equity Council. Additionally, Mikle has taught as an adjunct professor in the Loyola Marymount University Graduate School of Education. In addition to his bachelor’s degree in history from UCLA, Mikle is a graduate of UCLA’s Teacher Education Program and Principal Leadership Institute, and continues to be deeply committed to improving educational and workforce outcomes for urban youth in public education.
