High school and college practitioners gathered at Merced College on November 7 for Guiding Futures: Elevating Student-Centered Counseling and Support. The event, co-hosted by CLP and the WE Will! K-16 Regional Collaborative, brought together about 100 attendees from across the region.

In addition to workshops in three strands, attendees got to hear from students in a panel discussion. Some of the takeaways that attendees highlighted from the student panel:
“The importance of getting student feedback. We need to hear from them.”
“Give all information to every student because you never know which opportunity will inspire them.”
“Removing the barrier between college counseling and high school counseling MATTERS!”
“Create more of a culturally affirming environment. That’s not just including race and gender—students have more than just one identity.”
