Strand Descriptions

High-Quality Advising

At the heart of high-quality advising is relationships. Counselors and advisors play a critical role in helping students make sense of their educational options, see themselves within college and career pathways, navigate institutional barriers, and connect their choices to their goals, identities, and sense of purpose. This strand explores how counseling and advising can move beyond transactional interactions toward sustained, relationship-centered practices that support students across critical transitions.

Culturally Responsive Counseling

Culturally responsive counseling recognizes relationships, belonging, identity, and students’ cultural and community knowledge as essential to how students experience college, make decisions, navigate institutions, and imagine what is possible for themselves. This strand explores practices that move beyond one-size-fits-all approaches to counseling and advising.

Intersection of Dual Enrollment and Student Support Services

Dual enrollment pathways are transforming opportunities for students across the state, but success requires robust and equitable student support. This strand offers a foundational understanding of how student services intersect with dual enrollment, alongside strategies for ensuring student success in these programs. Participants will hear from colleges designing innovative supports and leave with practical ideas to enhance dual enrollment outcomes at their own institutions.
