Designing Equitable Career-Connected Accelerated Pathways with Hispanic Serving Institutions

CLP and East Los Angeles College will join Education Design Lab and practitioners from Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) to share what we’ve learned about designing career-connected, dual enrollment pathways in a webinar hosted by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (OCTAE).

During the session, panelists will:

  • Share insights, effective methods, and promising practices for integrating cultural understanding into outreach, recruitment, retention, and support services to facilitate equitable access to accelerated career training.
  • Highlight how students and parents were engaged in the design of accelerated dual enrollment pathways and the impact of this on the students, their families, and communities.
  • Feature our partnerships with employers on the design of the accelerated pathways and the impact of this on the students, institution, and ecosystem.
  • Demonstrate how to better tailor career-connected pathways to align with the needs of Latino students, offering them opportunities for growth and belonging and fostering mutual respect and effective collaboration.
  • Provide insights into the barriers Hispanic students face and suggest culturally responsive strategies to overcome them.
